The elements that is used for this exercise :

the primary water color ( blue - yellow - red ) - 50×50 cardboard - light - shadow - 25×25  patterned cardboard " parts are curved out from the board " ) .

we were asked to do a two dimensional (2D) exercise by using the primary colors to produce the other colors in the color wheel and use a specific scheme of colors to apply it upon the pattern and then by using a different cardboard we were asked to apply another pattern to be adjusted on the first pattern . this pattern is made by the light and shadow effect .

In this exercise , we have started with a simple pattern and we have applied ( Split complementary color scheme " blue green - yellow green - red " ) and then applied another simple pattern made of light and shadow in order to make the final pattern clear enough to observe the complexity of combining of two patterns . the following can express these point very clearly :
